Elisa Monahan, MS, LCMHC

Mental Health Counselor

There are times in life when uncertainty, pain, or major transitions can leave a person feeling ungrounded and disconnected from who they are. Whether someone is processing trauma, navigating a life change, or seeking a deeper sense of clarity and purpose, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect, and heal.

Elisa specializes in working with individuals who have experienced power imbalances or disruptions in personal agency—such as domestic violence, high-control religious environments, cultic ideologies, or coercive relationships. She also supports clients navigating a broad range of mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and identity-related issues. Regardless of their background or story, clients are met with a nurturing, non-judgmental space where they can explore their experiences at their own pace and begin to reconnect with their authentic selves.

Her therapeutic approach is eclectic and trauma-informed, thoughtfully tailored to each client’s unique needs. She draws from a range of modalities—including Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, somatic interventions, breathwork, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—to support healing in a way that feels natural and empowering.

She believes deeply in the power of self-discovery, self-compassion, and resilience. Her work focuses on helping clients rebuild their sense of self, establish healthy boundaries, and reconnect with their identity and purpose.

Wherever someone may be on their healing path, they don’t have to walk it alone. Elisa is honored to offer support with care, presence, and encouragement.

Elisa is also an affiliate of HAVEN, the largest violence prevention and support services agency in New Hampshire.

What to Expect from the First Appointment?

The first appointment is an opportunity for us to see if we’re a good fit. We’ll typically spend time discussing your history and what you hope to gain from counseling. By the end of the session, you should have a clear sense of what it might feel like to work together, as well as a general idea of the therapeutic path ahead.
