Lisa Gallo, M.Ed.

Lisa’s style of therapy is strength-based, solution focused. Her eclectic style incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, mindfulness, etc. to help clients move through limiting thoughts and patterns to reach their goals. Lisa’s framework is holistic and honors the importance of emotional health, physical health, relationships, spirit, community, and purpose in a person’s journey.

She works with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, work stressors, relationship struggles and life transitions. Additionally, Lisa specializes in:

-Insomnia
-Trauma

Lisa believes that there are many factors in today’s culture which lead one to feel isolated, unfulfilled or sad. Lisa’s style of therapy is strength-based, solution focused and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR,  mindfulness, TaT, etc. to help clients move through limiting thoughts and patterns to reach their goals.

One of the therapies she uses is Eye Movement Desentization and Reprocessing. EMDR works by supporting your brain in processing traumatic memories so that they become part of your past, and no longer affect the present. It can help people feel less distressed and, in turn, respond to situations instead of reacting to thoughts or feelings that may come up from the past.

She is a Level Two trained EMDR specialist. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a modality of therapy that can help clients process disturbing memories in order to experience them in a less distressing way.  It also assists clients in building resources so they can learn to navigate their world by responding to situations as opposed to reacting.

In her private practice, Lisa provides parenting education and support. Lisa has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in agencies, residential/day treatment programs and schools. Within the school system she has worked as a consultant, vocational/guidance counselor and behavioral specialist.

Lisa believes it is important to continue to expand her knowledge base by attending conferences and participating in professional organizations.  Lisa is licensed in the state of New Hampshire. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Long Island University and her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Vocational Rehabilitation from the University of Massachusetts. In addition, Lisa is a certified School Guidance Counselor. She is a member of the New Hampshire Mental Health Counselor Association and EMDRA.
